The Far-Reaching Impact of Alcohol Abuse
The adult substance abuse addiction and recovery process is not a one-size-fits-all journey. Alcohol abuse has a powerful impact on the person struggling with addiction, but it rarely stops there. Family relationships, careers, and personal lives all absorb the consequences.
In response to that reach, One Touch Recovery Center developed an intensive outpatient program that uses a personalized plan rather than a fixed curriculum applied to everyone who walks through the door.
Where Detox Fits Before an Outpatient Program
Initially, patients undergo detoxification as part of their substance use disorder treatment. Once the detox process is complete and withdrawal symptoms subside, an IOP helps them develop the skills needed to end chemical dependency, adopt a sober lifestyle, and begin a recovery journey they can sustain.
This sequence matters more with alcohol than with most substances. Withdrawal from significant alcohol dependence can be medically dangerous and generally requires supervised detox before any outpatient program begins. That determination is made at clinical assessment, not by the person deciding on their own.
The One Touch Recovery Intensive Outpatient Program
Outpatient treatment programs offer individuals the personal freedom a residential program cannot, while still working toward sobriety and relapse prevention.
Our outpatient treatment options for alcoholism and substance abuse go well beyond a 12-step program alone.
| Component | What it addresses |
|---|---|
| Cognitive behavioral therapy | The thought patterns that precede drinking, and the behaviors attached to them |
| Individual counseling | Weekly one-to-one work on goals, relapse prevention, and circumstances specific to the client |
| Talk therapy | The history underneath the drinking, including grief, trauma, and long-standing patterns |
| Group therapy | Shared accountability and perspective from peers at different stages of recovery |
| Family therapy and counseling | How the household has adapted around the drinking, and how it can support sobriety instead |
| Support group meetings | Ongoing peer support that continues well after formal programming ends |
Treating Dual Diagnoses and Co-Occurring Conditions
One Touch Recovery understands the importance of treating dual diagnoses and co-occurring conditions that often accompany alcohol and drug addiction — including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders.
Where drinking has been serving a purpose — quieting anxiety, dulling trauma symptoms, making sleep possible — removing the alcohol without addressing what it was doing tends to produce a short-lived result.
Our mental health staff and chemical health staff work with the same clients rather than in separate lanes.
Outpatient Care Compared With Residential Rehab
Our IOP offers many of the same clinical benefits as a residential drug and alcohol rehab, while giving patients control over their lives and schedules and helping them transition gradually back into normal life.
| Consideration | Residential rehab | Our alcohol IOP |
|---|---|---|
| Where you sleep | Onsite for the duration | At home, or in sober living if home is not safe |
| Work and school | Generally paused | Continue, with day or evening groups scheduled around them |
| Where skills are practiced | In a controlled environment | In the environment where they will actually be needed |
| Typical cost | Higher, including room and board | Generally lower, with no residential component |
| Best suited to | Unsafe home environments and higher medical need | Stable circumstances, or a step down after inpatient care |
How Our IOP Can Help
Every patient arrives with different circumstances
For some people, addiction treatment is simplified by using an outpatient treatment center close to home. Whether you or a loved one is struggling with alcohol abuse, opioid abuse, prescription painkiller dependence, or another form of addiction, our services combine different types of therapy to give you the best chance at lasting recovery.
An effective follow-up to inpatient care
Our outpatient rehab program also works as a continuation after inpatient or residential treatment. The weeks immediately after leaving residential care are among the highest-risk of the whole process, and stepping down through a structured program is what keeps that transition from becoming a relapse.
Flexible treatment that fits a real schedule
The benefits of outpatient treatment for substance use disorder come from flexibility — programming that fits around a shift pattern, a class timetable, or a childcare arrangement, while still delivering effective treatment for alcohol dependence and the mental health conditions alongside it.
