IOP is not a starting point for everyone. Some clients arrive from inpatient care elsewhere, some step down from our own PHP, and some are admitted directly after assessment.

Is IOP the Right Level of Care?
That question is answered at assessment rather than in advance. Someone with significant physical dependence on alcohol or benzodiazepines may need medically supervised detox before any outpatient program begins, since withdrawal from those substances can be dangerous.
Housing matters too. Clinical work is difficult to sustain from an actively using household, which is why sober living referrals exist alongside the program rather than as an afterthought.
